About this Civic Officer job in Canterbury:
* You’ll join our Democratic Services team’s hybrid working, spending your time working from home, the office, and getting out around the city to support events.
* You will manage all aspects of the Civic Office in an efficient and friendly manner, principally for the Lord Mayor and Sheriff and their escorts.
* As the Civic Officer, you will be planning the work of the Civic Team so that it supports and promotes local groups, organisations and the district as a whole.
* Your job is to manage, coordinate and deliver civic receptions and events on behalf of the council. This includes managing the budget, external collaboration, on-site event management and observance of civic protocols.• It will be
* You will promote the role of the Lord Mayor, Sheriff and civic team to ensure local residents and organisations are aware of the service they provide.
* You’ll maintain good working relationships both internally and externally to reflect the good reputation of the Civic Team and the City Council.
Civic Officer’s working pattern:
* Mainly Monday to Friday, 30 hours per week.
* You will be expected to work occasional evenings to attend meetings, events and seasonal occasions such as the Civic and Remembrance services at Canterbury Cathedral.
* We offer flexible, hybrid working arrangements.
* You’ll benefit from a full week off over the Christmas period, bank holidays off, PLUS 23 days annual leave to use throughout the rest of the year.
About you, the ideal Civic Officer for the job:
Your experience:
* Considerable experience in diary management, event planning and supporting community events.
* Confident in working with people at all levels of seniority across a range of organisations, demonstrating strong networking and communication skills.
* Experienced in following processes and protocols with an attention to detail.
Your skills:
* Ability to plan, prioritise and organise a varied workload, demonstrating sound judgement to deal with the unexpected.
* Ability to demonstrate excellent teamwork
* This post requires you to have a full driving license and own transport or requires travelling to sites in a timely manner, equivalent to motor travel in your own car.
