Overview
We currently have a fantastic opportunity for a Mechanical Tradesperson/Plumber to join our Facilities team!
The successful candidate will be expected to work unassisted or within a team depending on the works being carried out, working closely with other trades such as, electricians, joiners, and handypersons. At times they may need to assist or work alongside external contractors. The Tradesperson (Mechanical) must have a good knowledge, understanding and experience in other skills outside of Mechanical and plumbing, in particular joinery related tasks, principles of electrical awareness and safe isolation procedures.
The successful candidate will be committed to learn and develop their skills and competences and will have completed a full indentured apprenticeship with the CITB or be in possession of a City and Guilds NVQ Level 3 plumbing and heating qualification.

Key Responsibilities
The Tradesperson (Mechanical) will be responsible for maintenance and repairs on all heating, ventilation, gas and water services across the estate. Plenty of opportunity to get your steps in with being on your feet all day!
You may at times may be expected to work a flexible working week outside of the agreed shift pattern, this would be dependent on the needs of the business. This may include early starts, late finishes and the occasional weekend work.
Whilst working on your own initiative in the main but also as part of the wider Estates team, your communication skills and exceptional customer care skills will shine through in this role, as you complete your tasks and tend to the queries and situations that arise daily. As this is a support service, it must be provided in a professional and friendly manner, using discretion, tact diplomacy and attention to detail.
A bit about Estates and Property Services
Estates & Facilities Services Directorate is responsible for delivering a full estates and facilities management service to the University, including property maintenance, planned maintenance and renovation, cleaning, security, caretaking and facilitating spaces for our staff and students.
The Facilities Management team sits within the Estates and Property Service Division. Their core objective is to provide an essential and critical Facilities Management services across all campuses, to ensure the buildings and general estates are pleasant, fit for purpose and functional for everyone.
