Legal Assistant in Property and Construction
Location: Shrewsbury
Type: Permanent
Salary: £30,000 - £35,000
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8am - 4.30pm
Our client is looking for a Legal Assistant to join the business on a permanent basis. This is a new role created to support the Managing Director with a range of legal assistant duties, primarily focusing on legal administrative tasks in the property/construction sector.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Work with the Senior Management team to understand ongoing projects and the support needed.
2. Attend regular meetings with the MD, take minutes, and assist with follow-up actions or documentation requests.
3. Send out documentation and agreements, such as section 106 agreements.
4. Support with queries and structural warranty claims.
5. Liaise with external legal/consultancy companies to check on progress and chase documentation.
6. Run and manipulate reports for the management team, suggesting improvements for effective data usage.
7. Communicate with external providers to obtain information or raise issues or concerns.
8. Manage the MD's diary, ensuring effective booking of events and meetings.
9. Assist with additional administrative tasks like booking travel or accommodation for the Director when required.
10. Work directly for the MD, with varying PA support duties.
11. Prepare reports for the MD, customizing their presentation as required.
12. Occasionally attend meetings with the MD to support visits and provide minute-taking.
Skills and Experience:
1. Experience in a legal assistant role, preferably within the property or legal sector, is advantageous but not essential.
2. PA/Secretarial or similar experience with an instinct for necessary support.
3. Excellent organizational skills.
4. Ability to build strong rapport with the MD and senior management team.
5. Strong IT skills, familiar with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, and Outlook.
6. Comfortable managing own workload and prioritizing key tasks.
7. Flexible and supportive of wider teams when needed.
8. Ability to work under pressure.
9. High attention to detail.
10. Confident with numerical skills.
11. Proficient with MS Office.
