An exciting new opportunity has arisen for a dynamic, enthusiastic and motivated pharmacist to join the Pharmacy Admissions and Discharge Team and deliver high quality clinical care to patients across AMU, Frailty Unit and SAC at the Northern General Hospital Site.
You will work within a well-established team including pharmacists, medicines management technicians and medicine management assistants to develop your clinical skills. As a valued member of the multi-disciplinary team you will contribute to Post Take Ward Rounds for acute medicine as part of a rota and have the opportunity to be involved in service improvement processes and projects as they arise.
The postholder will be an independent prescriber or willing to complete it. Good communication, time management and analytical skills will be required, along with the ability to work effectively in a team. In addition, you will contribute to pharmacy services in the evenings and weekends, thus maintaining your basic skills and competence.
Applicants must have a certificate in clinical pharmacy and be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
The key roles of the post are to:
1. Provide a high-quality specialist clinical pharmacy service to medical and surgical admission patients supporting the principal pharmacist for PADT.
2. Attend the Post Take Ward Round for acute medicine on a rota basis.
3. Perform independent pharmacist prescriber role (when completed relevant training).
4. Produce and implement guidelines, protocols and SOPs with the support of a senior pharmacist.
5. Contribute to service development projects under the guidance of the Principal Pharmacist as required.
6. Provide support and mentorship for the post-registration pharmacists.
7. Complete the post-graduate clinical pharmacy diploma (if not already attained).
8. Participate in the education and training of pre-registration pharmacists, other pharmacy staff and healthcare professionals.
9. Support pharmacy service areas in the department, this may include dispensaries, technical and medicines information.
10. Contribute to the out of hours service including evenings and weekends.
