The Role The Role The role of the Legal secretary is to provide secretarial support to the Family Law Team – who deal with a wide range of matters including Divorce, Separation, Relationship Agreements, Children, Domestic Abuse and Financial Settlements. The Day to Day: Type documents, letters, attendance notes, file notes & bills, via Bighand/Speechwrite digital dictation on a pool system basis. Administer electronic filing which will include daily filing and the opening, closing, storage and retrieval of client files To prepare mail and enclosures for despatch. To attend clients both in person and on the telephone and to provide such support and updates in a professional and friendly manner. Keeping an up-to-date diary for the Solicitors and fee-earners. Making appointments and organising and arranging meetings To collaborate with and support other secretaries across the team using technology such a paperlite systems and Teams for communication and information sharing To ensure the confidentiality of all the firm’s and clients’ documentation and information. To update and keep updated electronic checklists within the case management system. Undertake other admin duties including photocopying and filing etc. What experience do I need? Trained in secretarial practice Fast and accurate word-processing and audio-typing skills. Previous experience as a legal secretary ( ideally within Family Law) or experience of working in an alternative professional office. What skills should I have?
