Arriva Rail London is an industry-leading train operating company, responsible for running the London Overground network under a Concession Agreement with Transport for London (TfL) and is part of the Arriva group.
We are on the hunt for 3 Station Assistant Dispatchers to join our team!
You will be a customer service ambassador for Arriva Rail London, with the goal to continuously exceed our candidates’ expectations.
As the Station Assistant Dispatcher, you will be tasked with ensuring prompt, safe and effective dispatch of our trains, ensuring that they run on time.
Responsibilities:
1. You will be fully supporting the running of a right time railway, considering train performance in all duties which include reporting delayed trains as well as documenting the reasons for the delays to the operating control.
2. You will assist in the loading of trains at the platforms, encouraging customers to use the full length of the platforms, and supporting the locking of train doors thirty seconds prior to departure.
3. Consistent liaison with Conductors, Drivers, Operations staff and Control to ensure the safe and timely departure of trains.
4. You will communicate effectively with customers and other Arriva Rail London staff to ensure that they are advised of any delays or cancellations of service updates.
5. You will remain visible to customers at all times, approaching them when they are in need of assistance, ensuring that customer comfort is a top priority.
6. Where facilities are available, you will also be required to make public announcements with the goal to keep customers informed with accurate and up to date information.
Qualifications:
1. The ideal individual will have come from a customer experience background and will have had experience responding effectively to customer queries whilst continuously meeting the needs of all customers, in a busy environment.
2. Strong communication skills are essential for this role.
3. Experience of working well in a team environment to achieve overarching business goals.
4. You will need to have the ability to analyse problems, to develop a clear understanding of issues whilst gathering relevant information to make informed decisions.
5. The ideal candidate would have a strong understanding of the railway as well as contract management, but this isn't essential.
