What the Job Looks Like: Are you passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of individuals within the criminal justice system? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a General Instructor at HMP Addiewell. In this role you will cater for a wide range of educational and vocational needs for the 796 prisoners. This will be done through assisting with workshops and supporting the employment team in managing attendance, performance and quality of work delivered. You will be creative in planning your teaching, using a variety of innovative and captivating resources whilst being able to deliver in an enthusiastic and inspirational manner. The successful candidate should aspire to provide stimulating and challenging experiences that will enable all learners to develop the skills, knowledge, and attitudes and values that will prepare them for life today and in the future. The Ideal Candidate: Expected Skills/Competencies: SCQF Level 7 in a teaching discipline (or equivalent) or achieve this within eighteen months of undertaking the role. Experience of teaching employability skills to adults across a range of abilities, including supporting students from deprived backgrounds. Experience of working with persons with a range of additional support needs across a range of ages and stages. Demonstrable experience of the SQA framework or of an Industry or Educational Standard. Knowledge of relevant health and safety legislation. Good general IT knowledge. Excellent interpersonal and management skills. Ability to work well under pressure, while keeping organised and utilising problem-solving skills.
