What you will be doing
As Site, Facilities & Infrastructure, we are responsible for running and maintaining the 156-acre Barrow site and ensuring it is operational 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. We utilise a highly skilled, fully flexible team, ensuring legislative compliance and minimum disruption to enable the shipyard to build submarines safely and efficiently. The work we do is key to maintaining our Nuclear Site Licence.
You will work closely with teams of skilled engineers, providing governance and oversight on a wide range of engineering projects that are vital to the success of our business. From maintaining existing infrastructure to supporting the development of new facilities, your role will be pivotal in ensuring that our site operates seamlessly.
Duties and Responsibilities
* Assist the Senior Engineering Manager in setting and reviewing standards for infrastructure and asset modifications and upgrades.
* Collaborate with the team to assess infrastructure needs and support the delivery of essential business requirements.
* Contribute to problem-solving and addressing engineering challenges as they arise.
* Provide expertise during the design and requirements capture stages, ensuring projects meet necessary standards.
* Ensure engineering integrity across various projects, operations, and maintenance activities.
* Participate in the development and management of site processes, operating instructions, and manuals.
* Engage with and support equipment and infrastructure evaluations across the Barrow Estate.
* Implement and oversee Site Asset Management Processes to maintain a reliable and safe asset base.
Skills
As a minimum requirement, you’ll need to be on track to obtain a 2.2 in your Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an engineering discipline, such as Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, or Nuclear Engineering. To be considered for this role you must be returning to university to complete your degree.
