Location: Leatherhead, KT22 7BA, UK Salary: up to £70,000 As the Compliance Engineer at Sunswap, you will be responsible for identifying and analysing all relevant regulations and directives across multiple markets (UK, EU and US). From this analysis, you will define essential requirements and ensure effective transfer of critical information to design engineers through the design and development of internal processes. Identify and analyse relevant standards, converting into requirements and specifications that can be actioned and qualified. Champion safety and environmental requirements within the business, ensuring the development of fully compliant and eco-friendly products that align with Sunswap's sustainability goals. Lead efforts to improve internal processes related to compliance, safety, and sustainability within the engineering department, enhancing operational efficiency and product quality. Lead Sunswap’s requirements process. Collaborate closely with systems and design engineers and other teams to effectively transfer and communicate critical compliance information, ensuring all engineering activities align with regulatory requirements. Conduct internal audits and investigations to identify non-compliance issues, particularly those related to sustainability and safety. Implement corrective actions to mitigate risks and enhance product integrity. Manage and maintain documentation related to product compliance, including test reports, technical files, and declarations of conformity. Qualifications & experience Degree in Engineering or other relevant field 5 years industry experience in a compliance or safety engineering role, preferably within the renewable energy, automotive, or transport refrigeration industries. An excellent understanding of the regulatory environment in the UK, EU and ideally, US. Proven track record of taking compliant products to market (CE, UKCA marking). Strong understanding and experience of requirements engineering and the associated processes. Familiarity with the V-model development process. Demonstrated experience in working with regulatory bodies and obtaining certifications for products or systems, particularly in the fields of sustainability and environmental protection. Proven ability to work effectively with design engineers, project managers, and other teams to ensure compliance throughout the product lifecycle. Strong background in conducting audits, investigations, and implementing corrective actions to resolve non-compliance issues.
