The Role
As the Second in Charge of English, you will play a crucial role in supporting the Head of English to lead and manage the English department. You will help shape the curriculum, support your colleagues, and work to ensure that all students have the opportunity to reach their full potential.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Assisting with the day-to-day management of the department
* Supporting in the development and delivery of the English curriculum across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5
* Line managing and mentoring a team of dedicated English teachers
* Contributing to departmental improvement plans
* Driving high standards of teaching and learning
* Monitoring and assessing student progress, ensuring academic success
* Playing an active role in departmental and whole-school initiatives
The Ideal Candidate
We are looking for an experienced, qualified teacher with a proven track record of excellence in teaching English. You will be able to demonstrate leadership skills and a passion for helping students achieve their best. In addition, you should have:
* A relevant degree and QTS (Qualified Teacher Status)
* Excellent subject knowledge and understanding of the English curriculum
* Experience of teaching English at Key Stages 3, 4, and 5
* Proven leadership skills, with experience of managing or mentoring colleagues
* A commitment to high standards and continuous improvement
* Strong communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team
