This role can be offered at either band 6 or 7 dependent on experience. Imperial College NHS Trust is a tertiary referral centre for OG and HPB malignancies for North West London. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join the Team for a year and to gain expert experience and enhanced knowledge of HPB cancer management in secondary care and develop key advanced CNS skills in an environment supported by an experienced nursing and multiprofessional team. Main duties of the job To provide specialist nursing advice and support to patients in Upper GI tumours and facilitate high quality, individualised care to patients/clients and relatives/carers, both inpatients and outpatients, without supervision in collaboration with the multi-disciplinary team in line with local and national targets. The post holder will provide specialist nursing care within the surgical and oncology setting and support and deputise for their line manager in the management of their clinical speciality. This will involve dealing with complex situations and having to take appropriate action in a variety of settings. To be flexible in the approach to the clinical area and to provide cover for any area specified acting as professional role model providing direct and indirect clinical care, teaching and research. To develop the clinical nurse specialist role in accordance with local and national policy and ensure the needs of patients and their families are central to service improvement initiatives.
