Job Description
"One of the attractors to me about ITDev is that there is no end to the kind of projects you can work on." (quote from one of our Digital Design Engineers).
We're a software and electronics design consultancy, which means that most of our work is in new feature and product development (rather than customer support or legacy systems). You will be working in a wide variety of industries, on the latest technology, as part of a team of highly-skilled engineers that love solving difficult engineering problems.
It's vital that you have the latest skills so we can successfully support our customers, so we take your professional development as seriously as you do (whatever career stage you're at). To support this, you will have your own personal development plan, a mentor, your IET membership fees paid, and support for continued learning - e.g. becoming a Chartered Engineer. You're also given time away from projects each week to work on your personal development plan.
When you join our close-knit, friendly engineering team, you're going to be developing electronic IP, working across the full lifecycle for a wide variety of markets and applications. You're going to be applying your digital design, RTL coding and verification skills in new ways, building your knowledge, and growing your experience.
We're looking for experienced engineers that already have experience in architecting systems, FPGA hardware design, and embedded software.
You may be stronger in some of these areas than others, and we actively encourage applications from those who are returning to work after a career break. Just contact our recruitment team if you would like a chat.
Key Responsibilities
• Implement and integrate FPGA IP blocks, test and debug code
• Liaise with stakeholders, including colleagues, clients, and suppliers
• Ensure designs are developed according to relevant standards
• Manage engineers
• Conduct peer reviews
Competences and Skills
Essential
• Full lifecycle of electronics design
• VHDL, Verilog, or SystemVerilog
• Simulators, synthesis and place & route tools and hardware debug
• Verification methodologies
• Scripting languages (e.g. Python)
• Revision Control Systems (e.g. Git or Subversion)
Flexible working
You can work in the Southampton office, or on a hybrid basis. You need to already be eligible to work in the UK.
If you want to work on a hybrid basis, you need to be prepared to visit the office regularly. Our culture and values are vital to the success of the business, so we believe it's important to have some face-to-face contact with you in the work environment.
This means you need to already be eligible to work in the UK, and able to get to Southampton easily.
Pay and benefits
We are open to experienced engineers at various career stages. It's more important that you have the right skills and attitude.
Our salaries start at £40k if you have a few years' post-university experience, and go up to £70k for Senior Engineers.
