The Opportunity
We have a fantastic opportunity for a permanent Carbon Consultant to join Amey Consulting in our growing Energy Transition and Sustainability (ET&S) team. With offices located Nationwide we welcome applications from across the country.
As part of the ET&S team, we’re focused on pragmatic decarbonisation works for clients such as National Highways, Network Rail, the MoJ, and in Education. Our solutions are key to reducing the carbon impact of our projects and our business and we have built a strong track record in the field.
The role
As the Carbon Consultant your role will be to produce technically sound deliverables for environmental commissions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements, working unsupervised and supervising more junior members of staff undertaking similar tasks. Duties may include but not necessarily be limited to:
* Producing technically sound carbon solutions, complying with all relevant technical standards and client requirements.
* Analysis of carbon data to identify trends and scope decarbonisation projects.
* The preparation and checking of deliverables that satisfy the overarching criteria of quality, cost, and programme.
* Assisting more junior members of staff and taking responsibility for their outputs where required.
* Liaising with client and supplier representatives at peer level, attending progress meetings, responding to queries etc.
* Contributing to the preparation of bids and the general work winning function.
* Working on site, either on a visiting basis or in a full-time but temporary role.
* Meeting budget targets and deadlines set by their manager.
* Following the general direction of more senior staff while seeking advice and direction when necessary.
* Sharing responsibility for the commercial success of the projects within their portfolio, controlling budgets and managing costs associated with deliverables.
What you will bring to us:
* Academic level qualification or equivalent in a relevant technical, scientific, specialised, or operational field (environment, engineering, science, or similar).
* Strong understanding of carbon reporting requirements (including scope 3) and experience in data analysis and manipulation of large environmental datasets.
* Some experience of infrastructure and/or built environment projects.
* Knowledge of commercial software used for carbon assessment such as One Click LCA.
* An organised individual with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Experience understanding technical concepts, ideally in an environmental context.
* Self-motivated and able to work under own initiative, as well as a team player.
