The Sainsbury Research Unit (SRU) at the University of East Anglia, Norwich, is a UK-based institution dedicated to an international programme of advanced research and instruction in the arts of Africa, Oceania and the Americas.
You should have a doctorate in anthropology, art history, archaeology or a related subject and should have fieldwork experience, a strong interest in visual arts, a good record of original research in the Pacific region and the capacity to provide research-led instruction in visual arts/material culture.
This is a new post. Expertise in online education, museum anthropology and collections research is desirable.
Primary responsibilities include:
1. Developing and running a Distance Learning programme at the SRU;
2. Undertaking personal research;
3. Co-teaching the MA course Oceania module;
4. MA and doctoral supervision;
5. Some limited undergraduate teaching;
6. Some limited SRU administrative tasks.
This full-time role is available from 1 September 2025 on an indefinite basis.
