The Opportunity: Based at our Wacol office, the Component Engineer isprimarily responsible for component production optimisation through reusability, alternate sourcing and working with production and reman engineering teams to optimise the operational design of the component rebuild process.
Key Accountabilities Include:
2. Key contact point to effectively manage the engineering communications and technical changes for components between Planning – Customer Support and Engineering
3. Short Term solution development when Production is unable to confirm a date within the PRD lockout period and assess for alternate strategies/local procurement/design request
4. Long Term solution development to identify bottlenecks in the core cycle and provide recommendations and working with the production and reman engineering team on cycle time optimisation on (piece parts/core/subcon and/facility constraints). Provide simulations on how the desired outcome can be achieved.
5. Key resource for driving outcomes on strategic projects
6. Preliminary scoping of change requests, determining the feasibility of the request and identifying potential engineering solutions
7. Understanding the technical and financial implications of a change to a component so that the team can determine how it should be supported and whether the product is financially viable
8. Analysis and recommendation of technical changes to components to reduce inventory and increase flexibility
9. Driving the cost price to be in line with a competitive Life Cycle Cost (LCC) by analysing Bill of Materials (BOM) and determining ideal changeout frequencies using predictive planning techniques
10. Analysis Bill of Materials (BOM) to compare the theoretical mortalities with actual consumption to drive optimal inventory levels versus risk and actual cost of repair versus standard cost of repair. Drive reusability of piece parts to improve sustainability
11. Studying the condition of return cores to understand core life and how mortalities may need to be revised over the life of an asset
12. Creation and maintenance of reports & KPIs to measure, analyse and report on the above
13. Managing or participating in engineering and IT related projects as required

What we are looking for:
21. Relevant Engineering tertiary qualification with at least 3 years of experience in a similar industry/application
22. Advanced technical knowledge & familiarity with Engineering Standards, documents & drawings
23. Analytical interpretation and advanced problem solving abilities
24. Strong communication and presentation skills
25. Sound knowledge of parts, sales, planning and operations business methodologies
26. Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work as part of a cross functional team
27. A Self-Starter, Highly Motivated and Driven approach to balance the needs of the organisation and the Customer
