We have an opportunity for a Specialty Doctor to shape services at Cygnet Hospital Harrow – while being fully supported by a Consultant Psychiatrist and first-class multidisciplinary team.
This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday between 9am-5pm, including 1:7 on-calls (5 weekdays on-calls and 2 weekend days on-calls).
Cygnet Hospital Harrow provides a recovery focused service treating a wide range of mental health problems. We also offer specialist diagnostic, assessment and inpatient services for individuals with mental health needs and who also have a dual diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder.
This role will be based on our 12-bed male acute service. The service provides a safe and stabilising environment for individuals who are experiencing an acute episode of mental illness and require an emergency admission.
With high staffing levels the service aims to help people stabilise and enable them to return to the community, or the least restrictive environment for them, as quickly as possible.
The MDT staff are actively encouraged and supported to complete Quality Improvement Projects, as part of our supportive culture to continue to improve on the quality of care we provide.

Your role responsibilities…
* Provide high quality treatment under the direction of a Consultant Psychiatrist
* Assess referrals & undertake mental state examinations of service users
* Participate in weekly ward rounds & attend multidisciplinary meetings
* Attend Care Programme Approach & Section 117 meetings & mental health review tribunals
* Provide up-to-date clinical information at all meetings
* Ensure that medical decisions are implemented as planned
* Audit medical services & ensure compliance with GMC & other professional guidelines
* Uphold policies & procedures and contribute to service governance & development
* Participate in 1:7 On call rota

We are looking for someone who is...
* Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent) qualified
* Experienced within a mental health setting
* Able to work as part of a multidisciplinary team
