Axcis Education is excited to be supporting an alternative provision in the South Hams area, who are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join their team. This role is perfect for someone who is passionate about making a real difference in the lives of secondary-aged pupils with additional needs. The successful applicant will be delivering 1:1 English and Mathematics interventions for students who struggle to access the mainstream curriculum. These students are likely to have ADHD or SEMH, and you will play a vital role in helping them progress at a pace tailored to their individual learning needs. The focus will be on creating a trusting, safe, and supportive environment, as this is key to the success of any intervention.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Deliver targeted, 1:1 interventions in English and Mathematics.
2. Provide emotional and educational support to students with ADHD and SEMH.
3. Work closely with teachers to adapt and modify learning resources.
4. Foster a positive and secure environment for students to thrive.
5. Build strong, trusting relationships with students and staff.
What You Will Need:
1. Experience working with young people or adults with learning difficulties (either professionally or through volunteering).
2. A genuine commitment to helping students with additional needs.
3. A full UK Driving License and access to a vehicle, as you will be required to travel between locations.
4. A patient, understanding, and empathetic approach.
