Qualifications
Essential Criteria:
1. BSc in Nutrition and Dietetics or Post-Graduate Diploma in Dietetics.
2. HCPC Registration in Dietetics.
Desirable Criteria:
1. Advanced Diploma in Dietetics.
2. Member of paediatric related BDA specialist.
3. Behavioral change skills training.
4. Training or experience in leadership and appraisal skills.
5. Post-Graduate Paediatric dietetic training.
6. Clinical supervisory skills training.
Experience
Essential Criteria:
1. Experience in giving clinical education to staff, students or assistants and giving constructive feedback.
2. Experience of working as part of an MDT.
3. Minimum of 1 year experience working as a Band 5 dietitian with evidence of interest in paediatric dietetics.
Desirable Criteria:
1. Experience of using leadership skills in the operational management of staff including supervision and/or appraisals of Dietitians/assistant staff.
2. Competence and experience of advanced communication skills including motivational interviewing and encouraging behavioural change.
3. Experience of working in Paediatrics.
4. Experience of supporting and assessing student dietitians.
5. Involvement in the supervision and/or appraisals of Dietitians/assistant staff.
Skills
Essential Criteria:
1. Up-to-date with evidence based professional practice and research.
2. Able to present information, written and verbal, in a clear & logical manner.
3. Ability to organise, prioritise & delegate.
4. Ability to collect and analyse nutritional data.
Desirable Criteria:
1. Able to cope in a stressful environment and with emotional or stressed patients and families.
Knowledge
Essential Criteria:
1. Evidence of CPD maintained in a portfolio, including attendance at post-graduate courses.
2. Understanding of clinical governance and its implications for services.
Desirable Criteria:
1. Knowledge of issues related to a wide range of paediatric dietetic practice areas (including but not limited to faltering growth, allergy and nutrition support).
