Do you want to help create a better food system? Come and join Better Food Traders, supporting the work of this dynamic organisation in a flexible, part-time role. The Membership Manager is a key part of the Better Food Traders team. You are responsible for delivering a training and support package for ethical food traders, as well as promoting engagement with new and existing members of the BFT network in order to maintain a vibrant, supportive community. This is a lovely, varied role involving regular interactions with small food enterprises across the country, as well as devising and delivering a training and peer-to-peer learning programme of online and face-to-face events.
Main job objectives:
* Training: Develop and deliver the BFT membership training package in collaboration with external organisations, trainers, network members and other team members.
* Managing the Membership: Working with regional co-ordinators, to support organisations throughout their journey as a BFT, and be a first point of contact to respond to queries and signpost to resources.
* Peer-to-peer support: Facilitate peer-to-peer support and collaborative working between groups – managing the online community group (on Facebook) and through our peer-to-peer Meet-Ups.
* Comms: Deliver excellent internal communication with members via Monthly Newsletter, Facebook group and group emails – adapting systems according to the needs of members.
* Outreach: Help in the recruitment of new members by delivering external events and spotting opportunities to extend the membership of the network.
* Internal systems: Develop and maintain the online systems for the BFT Network including the membership database, BFT online library, BFT members’ pages on the website, BFT Trader Map, BFT eventbrite page, and our Youtube channel.
* Membership fees: Work with team members to gather fees.
* Budgeting: Manage the Membership Budget.
* Strategy: Work closely with the Executive Director to achieve the aims and outcomes of the organisation and to ensure its continual development.
* Team working: To be an effective member of the Better Food Traders Team.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
* An understanding of the food system and alternatives to conventional methods of producing and retailing food, and a desire to work for change.
* Proven ability to collaborate effectively across different teams and cultures, strong relationship building skills and service-oriented attitude.
* Proven ability to deliver a programme of online and face to face events – covering all aspects of event work (design, coordination, people management, administration, comms, budget management).
* Experience in organising/moderating a multi-stakeholder group of individuals for constructive collaboration.
* Strong administration and IT skills, including good knowledge of G-Suite (Docs, Sheets, Forms and Slides), Wordpress, Facebook, Zoom, Eventbrite and Mailchimp.
* High level proficiency in English, both written and spoken, with attentive listening abilities and the ability to communicate clearly, concisely and authoritatively.
* Proven ability to work autonomously and adapt to changing priorities.
* Demonstrated project management skills.
* Excellent presentation skills.
* Event management experience.
Desirable
* Existing network within the sustainable food enterprise sector in the UK.
* Webinar development experience.
* Experience upgrading tech systems and online libraries.
EMPLOYMENT INFO
Permanent contract, 3 days per week
£21,900 (£36,500 pa pro rata)
33 days annual leave (pro rata)
5% Stakeholder pension scheme
Working flexibly and from home, with a monthly team meeting in London if possible (happy to flex for those living further away).
