The Blood Sciences laboratory is located in a purpose-designed laboratory equipped with multiple instruments including the Stratec Gemini, HOB BioCLIA, Phadia 250, Vitros XT7600, Sebia Hydrasys and Thermofisher Binding Site Optilite. Also located within Pathology, Immunology also perform IIF slide preparation on the Biosystems iPRO, Fluorescent Microscopy (Euroimmun Eurostar II) as well as allergy testing using the ALEX2 Allergy Explorer Job Profile As a Biomedical Scientist you will carry out technical and scientific work in the laboratory under the direction of the Chief/Senior Biomedical Scientist or Consultant mainly in the Immunology and Biochemistry Departments. You will work alongside the Blood Sciences team members and leaders to cultivate and maintain a culture in which staff are continuously improving the delivery of a high quality, efficient and effective services. • Job Type: This is a permanent position, working 37.5 hours per week. • Shifts: Monday to Friday. Key Duties • Undertake routine and specialist laboratory techniques in line with department standard operating procedures. • Record information on the pathology laboratory information system and ensure it complies with national and local data standards. • To assess, initiate and monitor appropriate action when a situation may compromise service delivery and to escalate. • To be aware of the processes for escalation of laboratory issues. Skills & Experience • HCPC registration or Trainee BMS will be considered • At least 3 years of experience in Immunology • Biochemistry lab experience desirable • Knowledge of ISO15189 requirements • BSc.
