Do you have experience in ensuring accident hazards are dealt with in a manner which is “Safe by Design” and reduces life-cycle risks ALARP (As Low As Reasonably Practicable)?
Do you want to:
* Join a dynamic company working with great clients at the forefront of the energy transition?
* Help enable the safe development and operation of offshore wind projects?
* Work for a company that cares about you and you can be proud of?
* Contribute to and share in the success of an employee-owned business?
If so, please read on!
BACKGROUND
Cairn Risk is an independent, employee-owned risk management consulting business providing pragmatic and proportionate support to enable the transition to net carbon zero in a safe, effective and attentive way. We advise developers, owner-operators and technology providers, primarily around the generation, storage, transmission, transformation and consumption of clean, sustainable and secure energy. We help our clients demonstrate their risks to people, environment, business and reputation are being managed effectively throughout the full lifecycle of their assets.
We have an in-depth understanding of the technologies that underpin the energy transition and the risks they pose. Our integrated services combine to meet all the risk management challenges the energy transition faces to protect PLANT, PEOPLE and the PLANET.
We understand that effective risk management will be a key enabler of the energy transition, and we relish the challenge and responsibility this brings.
OPPORTUNITY
One of our most in-demand services is the Principal Designer (PD) role under the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 (CDM 2015), or the Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) under the Irish equivalent regulations, on a range of Offshore Wind Projects.
This role involves:
* Maintaining effective relationships and clear communication with the project team, including the client, their designers and any contractors appointed;
* Providing training and facilitating workshops in relation to risk management;
* Ensuring that the overall design evolves in such a way that the health, safety & environmental risks associated with its entire life cycle are eliminated wherever reasonably practicable through design or, where not, are reduced ALARP through the provision of effective mitigations;
* Supporting the documentation of key design decisions and tracking Health, Safety & Environmental risks such that any residual risks are clearly understood by all relevant parties throughout construction, operations & maintenance phases;
* Gathering and producing key documentation such as the construction phase plan, health and safety file for handover to the operations & maintenance team on completion of the project.
We provide this PD/PSDP support via a team-based approach. This allows the project to benefit from our full range of experience rather than the specific skillset of one individual. It also supports new starters less familiar with offshore wind in developing their knowledge.
We recognise that offshore wind is a growing industry, and applicants may not have direct experience with the technology or delivering the PD/PSDP role. We therefore welcome applications from those with experience of risk management in comparable scale industries with a willingness to learn new technologies and approaches to working.
