Role Overview: Our client is seeking an experienced Process Commissioning Engineer to support clean and wastewater treatment site projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for commissioning treatment processes, ensuring they meet performance criteria and comply with safety, environmental, and quality standards. The role involves close collaboration with design teams, project managers, and site personnel to ensure efficient and smooth commissioning processes.
This is a contract role offering up to £450 per day, depending on experience.
Key Responsibilities:
Commissioning: Lead and execute the commissioning activities for clean and wastewater treatment processes, including the start-up and performance testing of new or upgraded equipment. Process Optimization: Evaluate and optimise treatment processes to ensure maximum efficiency and compliance with water quality standards. Documentation: Prepare detailed commissioning plans, method statements, risk assessments, and commissioning reports, ensuring all documentation is in line with regulatory requirements. Collaboration: Work closely with project teams, including process engineers, electrical and mechanical engineers, and operators, to achieve project milestones on time and within budget. Testing & Validation: Perform functional tests and system checks to validate process performance. Troubleshoot and resolve any process-related issues encountered during commissioning. Compliance: Ensure that commissioning processes comply with health, safety, and environmental regulations. Liaise with regulatory bodies as needed to ensure adherence to water quality standards. Training & Handover: Provide operational training to site staff and operators, ensuring competence in managing commissioned systems. Assist in the handover of fully commissioned systems to the operational team. Continuous Improvement: Identify and suggest opportunities for process improvements during commissioning and relay these back into design and operational practices.
Skills & Qualifications:
Experience: Minimum of 2 years’ experience in process commissioning within the water treatment industry, specifically in both clean and wastewater treatment plants. Education: Degree in Chemical, Process, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering, or equivalent qualification. Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of water treatment technologies, including filtration, disinfection, aeration, and sludge handling. Experience with SCADA/DCS control systems for process automation. Familiarity with pump stations, valves, and piping systems associated with water treatment processes. Problem-Solving: Proven ability to troubleshoot process issues and optimise performance during commissioning. Regulations: Strong knowledge of UK water industry regulations and compliance standards, including HSE requirements. Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise technical reports and documentation. Collaboration: Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and engage with contractors and stakeholders. Travel: Willingness to travel between treatment sites within South Yorkshire as required.
Contract Details:
Rate: Up to £450 per day, depending on experience and qualifications. Location: Based at treatment sites in South Yorkshire. Duration: Long-term contract, with the possibility of extension depending on project needs.
