Key tasks will include:
1. Keeping track of the major issues of the day, scheduling decision approval pathways and meetings, drafting meeting agendas, briefing presentations and reports for the Council’s Chief Executive, Leader and Councillor Committee members, to support them to make informed decisions about the Councils shareholdings in the companies.
2. Engaging with the Managing Directors and Finance Directors, and other colleagues within the Council’s companies to arrange them to present their performance reports and business plans to the Council, and to share information, and make collaborative connections to improve how collectively the Council and the Companies operate and work together.
3. Take high quality minutes, maintaining accurate records about the companies, and produce, share and publish on the council’s website and intranet, effective communications materials to help colleagues and members of the public to see transparently how Bristol City Council manages its shareholdings in its companies.
4. Coordinate small project teams made up of colleagues across the organisation (for example, in legal or finance), to deliver key pieces of work – this may include conducting research, writing reports and other documentation, and maintaining oversight of the delivery key work packages by project team members.
On a daily basis, you will be working in a small team reporting to the Shareholder Liaison Manager, juggling a number of different deadlines and priorities, and getting to know and understand about the very diverse and interesting companies the council has established.
You will be mainly based in City Hall, with scope for working from home when meetings are not in person.
You will require excellent organisational skills and the ability to communicate complex material effectively to a wide range of audiences, dealing with a number of different stakeholders at different levels and within different sectors.
