North Cumbria Children's Specialist Mental Health Service are delighted to be recruiting a Clinical Nurse Specialist to join our team. We are looking for a passionate and enthusiastic clinician with suitable leadership and experience, who is motivated to join the collective leadership team in this innovative post.
The services are dedicated to enhancing the wellbeing of children, young people and their families. We provide a wide range of treatment approaches to children and their young people including individual, group and family therapy. We also work very closely with partner agencies.
The successful candidate will work across the Children's Specialist Mental Health teams and carry a specialist case load across North Cumbria. They will have additional qualifications in NMP or a Psychological Clinical Intervention to lead on.
Main duties of the job
The Clinical Nurse Specialist will contribute to the strategic direction for the development of practice within Children's Specialist Mental Health services.
Key Functions:
* Offer specialist practice
* Provide clinical leadership for the Physical Health Clinic
* Offer professional leadership and advice, including clinical supervision
* Support with psychological formulation of complex cases
* Be involved in staff development
* Undertake audits and related activities in aspects of clinical practice, therapeutic intervention and service evaluation involving service users and their families
Person Specification
Qualifications
* First level registered nurse
* Recognized teaching qualification
* Postgraduate qualification at Masters level or equivalent
* Evidence of continuous professional development
* Evidence of experience in therapeutic interventions relevant to working with enduring mental health problems i.e. PSI, CBT, Family Interventions, Group Work
* Advanced level therapeutic training in one of the above modalities
Knowledge and Experience
* Experience working with Children, Young people and their families
* Have been involved in service development changes
* Awareness of the evolving healthcare agenda and the implications for nursing
* Experience of audit and related activities
* Evidence of facilitating quality improvement in practice
* Knowledge of clinical governance issues
* Experience of training and education
* Knowledge of wider Children's System

* Ability to work across professional and organizational boundaries internally and externally
* Interpersonal skills
* Ability to put strategy into action
* Prioritization of complex workload
* Evidence of managing complex cases in wider team
