James Lewis are currently assisting a key client, who are a multi-dimensional Principal Contractor, in their search for a HSE Manager to join the team. Working across a range of project sectors which include data centres, education, commercial, healthcare and science & technology in and around London and the SE, they have a real focus on critical infrastructure. This project is a datacentre which is the 3rd data hall they have constructed on this campus since 2018 and is currently at the stage where most of the groundworks, piling, ducting, drainage and services are complete, with the slab and steel frame due to commence in Q1. You will. Reporting to the H&S Director you will be responsible for all matters relating to HSE management and planning across the business ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation. You will also ensure all company standards are met whilst providing competent compliance advice and support to project teams and employees. HSE Manager duties include: Manage weekly Site H&S meeting for subcontractors Review and Audit Subcontractor “Friday Packs” with site manager to ensure correct info Monthly Review and update where requirement on site specific plans (SWMP, EMP, CPP, TMLP, EFP, Site safety plans etc). Review and audit the issuing of permits on site, correcting any errors/issues identified. Ensure the company meets its obligations under the ‘Control of Major Accident Hazards Regulations’ To investigate accidents and ensure all documentation is updated Statutory and Project specific Registers are kept up to date Carry out LOLER & PUWER inspection reports, whilst auditing subcontractor reports Monthly H&S audits and Quality Assurance on sites in line with the Monitoring Schedule Carry out weekly and monthly site inspections Review and audit subcontractor weekly and monthly site inspections Carry out, review and audit Site inductions, toolbox talks and review subcontractor toolbox talks Facilitate all forms of risk assessment – manual handling, fire risk assessments / fire prevention, COSHH. Ensure the company Safe System of Work is implemented on sites and adhered to at all times In order to be considered, we are looking for at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role on construction projects, with specialist knowledge of health & safety and quality assurance, fire safety, emergency first aid at work, asbestos awareness and environmental awareness. You will also be a Technical Member of IOSH with a NEBOSH Construction Certificate and have an active CSCS card.
