As we continue our journey to drive internal improvement and to influence and improve outcomes for Birmingham residents, we are seeking to appoint a number of high-calibre Personal Assistants to provide executive level support to our senior leadership. The successful candidates will have the ability to foster positive working relationships with Executive Directors, Senior Leaders, and Cabinet Members, to work under pressure to meet deadlines, and regularly handle sensitive and confidential information. Diplomacy and negotiation skills are key, as well as an ability to communicate effectively and confidently with Council officers, Cabinet Members, external agencies, and the public.
The successful candidates will have enthusiasm for working as a dedicated Personal Assistant within a wider business support function. They will be flexible and solution-focused, with excellent attention to detail, and a highly organised approach to managing diaries and correspondence, preparing reports and presentations, and maintaining records. They will have excellent written and oral communication skills, alongside well-developed IT skills, and be happy to work using their own initiative. They must be able to work flexibly to respond to service demand, which includes presence in the office for 5 days per week at either Council House or the Library of Birmingham.
Interviews for this post will take place in-person at the Council House, Victoria Square, Birmingham during weeks beginning 28th April or 5th May 2025. Shortlisted candidates will be provided with further information.
