Role Overview
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Commercial Manager with a strong background in the water industry to join our dynamic team. This role offers the opportunity to lead commercial operations, drive project profitability, and support strategic initiatives within a challenging and rewarding sector.
As a Commercial Manager, you will play a key role in managing commercial aspects of water infrastructure and treatment projects, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations, and fostering client relationships.
Key Responsibilities
* Manage the commercial and contractual elements of projects within the water industry, ensuring compliance with relevant frameworks and regulations.
* Oversee the preparation, negotiation, and administration of contracts and agreements, including NEC, FIDIC, and other standard forms.
* Monitor project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
* Identify, assess, and mitigate commercial risks, providing proactive solutions to resolve issues.
* Collaborate with project teams to ensure cost control, value engineering, and financial reporting.
* Foster strong client relationships, acting as the primary point of contact for all commercial matters.
* Lead or support tendering activities, including pricing strategies, cost estimations, and bid submissions.
* Conduct regular project reviews and provide reports to senior management on project performance and risks.
Required Skills and Experience
* Proven experience as a Commercial Manager within the water industry, including water treatment, wastewater, or related infrastructure projects.
* In-depth knowledge of standard forms of contract, such as NEC3/NEC4, FIDIC, and other frameworks commonly used in the water sector.
* Strong financial acumen, with experience in budget management, cost control, and risk assessment.
* Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills, with a collaborative and solution-focused approach.
* Strong understanding of procurement processes and supply chain management.
* Proficiency in financial and project management tools, as well as MS Office Suite.
* Relevant degree in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, Engineering, or a related field.
Preferred Qualifications
* Professional accreditation, such as MRICS, MCIPS, or ACostE.
* Experience working within regulated industries, such as AMP frameworks in the UK water sector.
* Strong understanding of compliance requirements, environmental regulations, and sustainability in the water industry.
