Job Title: Senior Engineer - Earthworks

The construction of the Chiltern tunnels and Colne Valley Viaduct are two of the most eye-catching and challenging engineering projects on the HS2 route. The Align opportunity is part of this landmark project.
About our role:
* Assist in preparation of earthworks sequencing and detailing.
* Producing and updating the detailing of 3D models for earthworks.
* Follow up construction in-line with provided drawings/models through management of workforce and/or subcontractor.
* Develop Construction process with earthworks engineers and supply chain.
* Anticipate and innovate solutions to construction issues. Liaise with various support teams e.g. consents, lifting, temporary works, buried services, methods, H&S and Environment to aid in ensuring relevant documentation and permits are in place for works.
* Attend meetings with various stakeholders including the client to ensure works are in line with project commitments.
Technical and site work:
* Understand and analyse temporary and permanent earthworks and drainage design to develop construction method.
* Utilize Civil 3D software to create detailed designs, sections and models.
* Manage the GPS machine control system in co-ordination with plant supplier.
* Co-ordinate with surveying team to ensure survey control and as-built information is to the required specifications.
* Compute quantities using Civil 3D and construction estimates for various tasks.
* Assist the team with conversions and support with CAD related tasks.
* Perform construction management tasks and prepare construction documents.
* Work collaboratively with project managers, works managers and other site engineers to solve complex issues.
What we are looking for...
Ideally, you'll hold an HNC or a Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent. Demonstrable experience in management of Earthworks in a Senior Engineer capacity and leading a team of Engineers is essential. Additionally, experience in managing drainage works is desirable.
Due to the self-delivery nature of the job, as well as delegating effectively, you will be required to carry out various engineering tasks yourself. You'll have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, be proactive, an innovator and a collaborative team worker.
