Our client a well-established construction company based in Ely, Cambridgeshire, with a highly experienced team that has worked together for over 18 years is seeking a Bookkeeper to join their team The Role:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Bookkeeper to manage financial transactions and ensure the smooth running of our clients accounts. The ideal candidate will be organised, reliable, and capable of working independently while contributing to the teams efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
Managing accounts payable and receivable
Processing invoices, payments, and bank reconciliations
Preparing VAT returns and ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations
Managing payroll and handling CIS (Construction Industry Scheme) submissions
Maintaining accurate financial records and ledgers
Assisting with financial reporting and budgeting
Liaising with suppliers, subcontractors, and clients regarding financial matters
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably within the construction industry
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage)
Strong understanding of CIS, VAT, and general accounting principles
Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks efficiently
Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
