We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Interim/Fractional Payroll Administrator to join our People team on a temporary basis. This role will require an experienced payroll professional with a strong understanding of end-to-end payroll processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to handle a fast-paced, dynamic environment. We are open to considering a flexible working pattern too and would anticipate this role requiring 20-25 hours of work each week. As an Interim Payroll Administrator, you will be responsible in supporting our Payroll and Benefits Lead to oversee the full payroll process for UK employees, ensuring timely and accurate payroll administration. You will also manage queries and provide support ensuring smooth and efficient operations and acting as "first line support" to our business. Key Responsibilities: Payroll Processing: Responsible for processing monthly payroll, including handling new joiners, monthly changes, rolling sickness, childcare vouchers, statutory payments (e.g., SMP, SSP, etc.), pension enrolment, benefits setup, and leavers. Ensure accurate and timely payroll delivery, following all UK payroll legislation and company guidelines. Press and post payroll reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance with statutory requirements. Handle sensitive payroll and employee data with the utmost discretion, adhering to confidentiality agreements and company policies. Ensure all payroll-related information is processed securely and shared only with relevant parties as required. Work collaboratively with different stakeholders to ensure payroll processes align with company goals and compliance requirements. Payroll Support Manage inbound payroll-related queries via email, providing prompt and accurate responses. (Approx. 10-15 per day.) Direct queries to relevant departments when necessary, ensuring a high level of service and maintaining efficiency. Assist employees with payroll-related questions, such as payslips, deductions, and benefits information (99.9% of queries are informational and not errors). Systems and Data Confidently navigate between various internal systems and external portals (e.g., pensions, benefits) to gather and input necessary data. Maintain accuracy in entering data related to employee payroll, pensions, and benefits. Troubleshoot system issues and ensure proper resolution in a timely manner. Use Excel (intermediate level) to process payroll reports, ensuring data integrity and completeness. Perform VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP functions to manipulate payroll data and generate necessary reports for finance and other departments. Payroll App Support: Provide support during our new payroll system implementation, including data gathering, checking, and system testing. Collaborate with the wider People team and Finance to ensure the smooth transition of payroll processes to new systems. Skills & Experience: You bring end-to-end payroll processing experience in UK, with a comprehensive understanding of all payroll-related tasks and statutory obligations for a 400 employee headcount. Intermediate-advanced level Excel skills, including the ability to perform VLOOKUP or XLOOKUP to process monthly reports. Comfortable working across multiple systems, including HR and payroll software, and external benefit/pension portals. Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders, demonstrating professionalism and clarity when handling queries. High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when processing payroll data and responding to employee queries. Understanding of the importance of confidentiality in payroll and HR processes. Ability to address payroll-related issues efficiently and guide employees through any challenges they may face.
