Job Overview
As a theatre team, we aim to provide outstanding care to all patients requiring surgery in the East Kent Area. The role of the Senior Theatre Practitioner is to support the Theatre Coordinators in providing outstanding and efficient care to the patients of East Kent, and to lead theatre teams to ensure the care they provide is safe and effective. We are looking to appoint Band 6 Senior Theatre Practitioners to our Trauma and Orthopaedic, General Surgery and Obstetrics and Gynae teams.
Responsibilities:
1. Manage a complex agenda of providing hands-on care as well as undertaking a leadership role in the department.
2. Maintain credibility and flexibility as a competent practitioner in a changing environment.
3. Provide support and assistance to the Theatre Coordinator and Matron to provide a quality service.
Qualifications
Essential criteria:
* Registered General Nurse ODP 111 / ODA C&G 752
* Degree in Nursing or working towards degree or equivalent
* Preparation of mentors or equivalent - ODP diploma
Skills and Experience
Essential criteria:
* Venepuncture, cannulation, ECG, IV Drugs and ILS
* Communication skills
* Facilitating staff development and empowerment
* 2 years experience at Band 5 in a hospital setting
Other Requirements
Current understanding of key issues facing the NHS both locally and nationally.
