Overall Purpose Primarily this will be to work within our SEND department to support students who have SEND and / or SEMH needs. The successful candidate will need to show an inclusive approach to students modifying language and practice to ensure they are fully supported in their learning. Key tasks will include supporting students and other staff during their time in lessons or within our SEND department, supporting the delivery of lessons or intervention to address the learning, behaviour, social and emotional needs and responding to situations as they arise on a day-to-day basis. : • Support the vision, ethos and policies of the Academy which secure effective teaching, successful learning and promote high levels of achievement and self-esteem for all students irrespective of background, ethnicity, gender or disability. • To actively engage in the curriculum delivery including the delivery of enrichment activities. • To deliver small group or 1 to 1 intervention in and out of the classroom. • To ensure a safe, calm and purposeful learning environment at all times. • To support students in displaying the South Axholme Mindset. • To support students in regulating their emotions and choices when in lessons or in dialogue with other students and adults. • Provide support for students with significant wellbeing needs (EG - Trauma, Mental Health, Medical, and Attachment Issues).
: • Effectively manage student behaviour and any other immediate issues or emergencies that arise in accordance with academy policy. • To support students to engage with the work provided, including providing support where necessary with literacy, numeracy and organizational skills. • To liaise with teachers/other relevant staff with regard to work set for a class and ensure you are suitably equipped and informed to be able to effectively supervise the assigned lesson. • To feedback to the class teacher on student engagement in the set work and any other issues that may have arisen. • To help prepare, monitor and maintain a safe and secure learning environment. • To undertake student registration of a class if required. • To assist with the organisation of cover for absent colleagues for both planned and unplanned absence.
