Overview
Reaseheath College is a forward thinking and dynamic College providing an excellent educational experience to over 4,500 students a year. Our staff and students have access to leading edge facilities including an Equestrian Centre, competition arenas and solarium, equissage and magnotherapy. In particular, our Equestrian Centre boasts of carefully designed modern yards, including American barn-style stabling, which accommodates over 60 horses.
About the role
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an Equine Yard Technician to join the department for 5 days a week on a fixed term contract.
Key responsibilities:
1. Support and supervise students whilst working in the yard, undertaking yard duties that will contribute towards high quality, effective and relevant learning experiences.
2. Work as part of a team to uphold the care and welfare of horses.
3. Assist in instructing students in yard and stable management and horse husbandry using a variety of methods.
4. Assist the Equine Team in the day-to-day running of the yard by carrying out yard duties, exercising horses and by communicating effectively to ensure all team members are fully informed of matters that may affect them.
5. Work flexibly to meet the needs of the business and support outstanding student experience, marketing opportunities and industry engagement.
The successful candidate will:
1. Level 2 Maths and English (GCSE Grade C or above) or willingness to work towards.
2. BHS Stage 2 or equivalent qualification/experience.
3. Demonstrable experience of working competently and successfully within the Equine Industry and on busy yards to high standards.
4. Demonstrable experience of storing and maintaining equipment associated with equitation.
5. Qualification for transporting horses by road (or demonstrate a willingness to work towards) is desirable.
6. Please note, this role involves some morning, evening and weekend work.
