Chargehand (Job ID:1683) Company: ASCO UK Limited Employment Type: Full Time/Permanent Location: Aberdeen Hours of Work: 40 hours per week - 0900-1800 (/- 3 hours part flex) Applications are invited from candidates with established experience to both supervise and perform lifting operations, equipment inspections and cargo handling duties. Reporting to the Quayside Operations Manager and with responsibility for Multi Skilled Operatives, the role will undertake the following duties: •Actively support the Quayside Supervisor and Checker in the safe and efficient delivery of Quayside Operations. •To be Responsible and Accountable for the Safety of their appointed teams and delivery of the assigned tasks. •To provide clear, unambiguous instructions to all members of their appointed team, and be fully conversant with the duties of all the persons involved as part of their team. •Demonstrate leadership skills with regard to raising safety awareness of site personnel, actively encouraging reporting and investigation. •Inspect units for damage/overloading/compliance prior to offloading from vessel. •Ensure that formal procedures, standing instructions and safety standards are communicated, always reinforced and complied with. •Carryout effective toolbox talk conversations before commencement of job task and or when conditions change, assigning and confirming roles as applicable. •Ensure knowledge and understanding of relevant procedures, work aids and risk assessments is maintained, communicated and assured to assigned teams. •Conduct Live Safe Interventions (LSI) and encourage team members to participate and record for inclusion on base scorecard •Maintain good housekeeping regime to work area and site as appropriate to achieve the highest standards. •Ensure the vessel is loaded in accordance with any Client Special Instructions, equally any ROB's must be identified and confirmed. Minimum Competencies (Skills, Knowledge and Behaviours) •Effective leadership/people management and interpersonal skills, both verbal and in writing. •Accustomed to working effectively in a fast-paced environment, adapting to changing workloads and priorities, where high standards are not compromised under pressure. •Solutions based with strong analytical, planning and organising skills, and an excellent attention to detail. •Ability to work stand-alone while a positive contributor to the wider team. •Numerate and computer literate with well-developed IT skills across the Microsoft suite.
