Residential Property Legal Secretary
Our client, a leading multi-office law firm based in Chelmsford, offering a full range of legal advice to business and individual clients, has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Residential Property Legal Secretary to join their busy property department.
Our client’s conveyancing department deals with all aspects of residential conveyancing including sales and purchase transactions, remortgage, equity transfer, and large volumes of freehold and leasehold property work across East Anglia and London.
The Role
1. To provide secretarial support to the property fee earner
2. Screening incoming calls
3. Dealing with new business opportunities to ensure the continued success of the property department
4. Audio typing using digital dictation
5. Diary management, booking rooms, and arranging meetings
6. Using case management system
7. Liaise with clients, solicitors, estate agents, and mortgage lenders
8. Providing quotations, sending out client care letters
9. Deal with client queries, and take instructions from clients
10. Amend and reformat documents
11. Apply for searches using online services including land registry
12. Using HMRC website to complete stamp duty land tax forms
13. Deal with post-completion matters
14. Maintain client files, opening and closing of files
15. Maintain the filing system
16. Assist fee earners in the maintenance of client accounts
Experience Required:
1. Recent Residential or Commercial Property legal secretarial experience essential
2. Fast and accurate audio typing skills, including digital dictation
3. Experience with Microsoft Office, Word, Outlook, Excel
4. Able to prioritise and multitask
5. Excellent telephone manner
6. Ability to deal with client queries when fee earners are out of the office
Friendly working environment. Competitive salary. Hours Monday to Friday 9am-5.30pm.
