A Child Support Assistant is required for 5 hours per week in term-time with extra hours available in the school holidays. The young boy has a physical disability, therefore the mum requires help supporting her when taking him and his older brother swimming on Friday's after school and additional support in the home.
The hours during school term time it would be two sessions of 2.5 hours possibly Monday and Friday (this could be flexible) The Friday hours required are 3.30-5.30pm.
In the school holidays one session of 5 hours with the availability to have another five hours some weeks. Days are flexible and could be discussed.
The rate of pay is £12.10 per hour.
As the boy lives in rural Slingsby (YO62) a driver would be needed, there is a car on Motability available, however, the support assistant would have to be over 25 years old (due to the regulations) to drive this when caring for him.
Duties would include: all personal care as he is unable to toilet independently and needs help with showering and getting dressed. Helping him go out on trips and general duties such as reading, playing, getting ready for bed, helping with meals would be required. The young boy was born with a genetic condition called Tar Syndrome and because of this he was born without arm bones with just his hands on his shoulders. This means he needs a lot of support and supervision to keep himself safe. He is unable to break his fall and finds getting in and out of the car difficult. Although the home is very adapted for him some lifting is still required. Additionally, he also has sensory issues and needs support with these.
A DBS will be required for this position.
