We're looking for Business Development Manager to join our North West business working across Manchester and Liverpool business units. The role will be fixed term for 14 months. Location : North West - Liverpool & Manchester Hours : 37.5 Hours per week, flexible work options can be discussed Kier construction is a leader in delivering design and build solutions to clients over a wide cross section of the UK contractor market. We deliver projects within Education, Healthcare, Commercial, Aviation, Defence, STEM and custodial utilising Modern Methods of Construction to provide the highest standard of quality, safety, sustainability and value. We deliver construction projects between £10M - £100M drawing on the expertise of our dedicated, passionate and diverse people. The business development manager will play a key role in shaping the Regional Build business in the North West region through identifying opportunities for sustainable growth aligned with the regional business plan. What will you be responsible for? As Business Development Manager you will report to the head of pre construction and work collaboratively across Senior Management teams in the North West Region. Your day to day will include: Carry out business development activities to support growth for Kier Construction in the North West region across both public and private sector client base. Identify opportunities and develop early win strategies in collaboration with the SMT, seek out market intelligence and develop key relationships within client teams and consultants. Provide market leading intelligence and maintain a pipeline of opportunities in line with business plan goals, ensuring a suitable volume of leads to develop tender opportunities. Create and maintain opportunity intelligence forms for each opportunity to ensure the bid strategy is understood by the work winning team and undertake capture planning as required Attend meetings with clients, consultants, key supply chain partners, and market sector bodies and associations to promote Kier and stay up to date with developments across the sector. Build and maintain strong relationships with new and existing clients and understand their needs so they can be reflected in proposals developed by the work winning team Support key account management and maintenance of the client and opportunity data within CRM Provide monthly updates on all key and imminent bid opportunities to the SMT and SLT for the region. Arrange, coordinate and attend industry events, dinners, conferences etc as and when required to promote Kier capability, gather intelligence and grow your network within the market. What are we looking for? This role of Business Development Manager is great for you if: Significant experience and understanding of the construction market, ideally gained within the main contractor or similar environment. Strong understanding of frameworks and routes to market for public sector driven construction opportunities. Experience and understanding of procurement routes within the sector including relationships/knowledge of local authority and central govt departments. Availability to travel across the region for meetings, events and collaboration with colleagues Experience of working collaboratively with multiple internal stakeholders across work winning, planning, commercial, operational, Health and Safety. Experience with Microsoft Dynamix or similar CRM system Be a self-starter with a proven track record and established industry network of key contacts Be highly motivated to develop customer relationships, opportunities and to win sustainable work.
