Role: SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join our supportive team, working in the heart of Wednesbury.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Provide 1:1 support to children with special educational needs in a classroom or care setting, ensuring they have access to the curriculum and are fully included in the learning process.
2. Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) in collaboration with teachers, therapists, and parents to meet each child's unique needs.
3. Assist with the personal care needs of students as required, while maintaining their dignity and promoting independence.
4. Utilize a range of strategies to promote positive behaviour and engagement within the learning environment.
5. Facilitate communication between students and staff, utilizing various communication aids and techniques when necessary.
6. Monitor and record the student's progress, providing feedback to teachers and caregivers.
7. Attend meetings and training sessions as required to further professional development and ensure the best practices are employed.
Qualifications:
1. Prior experience in SEN roles within a school or care setting is essential.
2. An understanding of the challenges faced by children with special educational needs and a commitment to their education and wellbeing.
3. Comfortable undertaking personal care tasks with sensitivity and respect.
4. Ability to adapt to varying shift patterns, with flexibility to meet the needs of the school and its students.
5. Enhanced DBS check on the update service is a prerequisite for this role.
The successful candidate should have excellent communication skills, a patient and nurturing approach, and the capacity to work effectively as part of a team and independently. A resilient and positive attitude is crucial, as is the willingness to learn and adapt to each child's needs.
