Join the team at Lincoln Museum and Usher Gallery as our Caretaker, and play a vital role in preserving history!
We’re seeking an enthusiastic, proactive, and resourceful individual to step into the role of Caretaker. Be part of our dedicated team, ensuring the seamless operation of our sites and contributing to the protection of Lincolnshire’s rich heritage.
About the role
As our Caretaker, you will be responsible for tasks such as unlocking and locking the site, supervising contractors performing maintenance and repairs, and conducting health and safety building checks. You'll also carry out basic minor repairs, assist with installations and temporary exhibitions, and participate in the out-of-hours call-out procedure when required.
This is a part-time position for 20 hours a week and can be arranged over 3 or 4 days to suit your preference. However, flexibility on both sides will be essential to meet the needs of the service. For example, if we are holding an event, working days may need to be adjusted by mutual agreement, with ample notice provided in advance.
About you
This is a unique site with a varied and interesting role that would ideally suit someone who is adaptable, creative, and eager to take on new challenges. The Caretaker has the opportunity to work in a dynamic environment, requiring a mix of problem-solving, innovation, and collaboration, making it perfect for someone who enjoys variety and thrives in a dynamic and ever-changing environment.
You will have previous experience of working within a building maintenance role or similar, and be able to work flexibly using your own initiative.
As Caretaker, you may be expected to travel to other cultural sites; therefore, a driving licence and access to a vehicle is desirable.
