Job Introduction
This is a rare opportunity for an ambitious and creative content maker to join the team at BBC Radio York. Our mission at BBC Radio York is to entertain, inform, and educate our audience here in North Yorkshire. The role of an Audio Social Journalist is key to connecting audiences with our content and personalities at BBC Radio York.
Main Responsibilities
As a Journalist, some of the main responsibilities will include:
1. Day-to-day running of our social media accounts.
2. Reversioning content to maximize our Audio's reach to online audiences.
3. Working alongside our Executive Producer and the wider BBC York team to drive engagement and growth of referrals from social accounts to BBC products and services.
4. Promoting radio station activities and creatively turning local talking points into content for social media and broadcast.
5. Championing new social media formats like radio studio visualization and assisting colleagues in developing their digital skills.
6. Using social listening tools to identify issues that matter most to local audiences and creating engaging content.
7. Transforming daily radio and TV content into engaging social formats and creating original digital content.
8. Contributing ideas for improving our content and engagement strategies.
Are you the right candidate?
The successful candidate will have experience of creating high-impact content across multiple platforms. You will have an enthusiasm for storytelling and an understanding of how the BBC serves local audiences digitally.
1. Experience in building social media brands and implementing strategy.
2. Sound understanding of editorial problems and legal concerns.
3. Film-making skills, including shooting and editing material.
4. Knowledge of social listening tools and data interpretation.
5. Ability to recognize great stories, even without a journalism background.
