Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship

Apprentice teaching assistants have the opportunity to start working in a classroom straight away. They work with the lead classroom teacher to support students, make sure lessons run smoothly and lead smaller group activities. Teaching assistants work very closely with students and often support the same ones long term. They can have a life-changing impact on the people they work with.

Day-to-day Duties May Involve:
* Monitor individual pupils' progress, achievements, problems, condition and development needs reporting to the responsible teacher as appropriate.
* Assist the teacher in the development, delivery and implementation of Individual Education/Behaviour Plans and Personal Care Programmes for individuals or groups of children.
* Assist the teacher with the planning of learning activities in the classroom or designated areas preparing or modifying work for individuals or groups of pupils as directed.
* Provide support for local and national learning strategies e.g. English, Mathematics, Early years.
* Assist with the implementation of programs designed by other professionals such as Educational Psychologists, Speech and Language therapists.
* Assist the teacher with the administration of baselines and other assessments.
* Support the use of computing in learning activities and develop pupils' competence and independence in its use.
* Prepare and maintain equipment and teaching resources for lessons and activities including the control of stock within the classroom.
* Prepare/clear classroom as directed before and after lessons, including the preparation of visual aids, and the display and presentation of pupils' work.
* Participate in personal and professional development activities to meet the changing demands of the job and encourage and support other staff in their development and training.
* Supervise and support the teaching activities of individuals or groups of children/young people to ensure their safety and facilitate their physical and emotional development.

Qualifications (Pre Apprenticeship Training Provided By SCCU):
* Level 1 Preparing to Work in Schools.
* Level 1 Safeguarding in Education and Childcare Settings.

Training to be provided: Training for this qualification will be provided by ourselves at SCCU Group, an Ofsted good training provider. Our tuition is all delivered in the workplace and bespoke to your particular role.
* Teaching Assistant Level 3 Standard, 18 months practical with an additional 2 months End Point Assessment period.
* Functional Skills in Maths, and English (if required).
Working Week and Hours: Monday to Friday term time only contracted to 37 hours per week.
Eligibility criteria:
* You must be 19+.
* Have lived in the UK for the past 3 years.
* Not currently in education.
* Currently unemployed or in receipt of low wage (Under £25,000).
