About The Role
We are seeking an Assistant Estimator to join our expanding Pre-construction Team.
As an Assistant Estimator, you will be responsible for supporting and assisting the Lead Estimator in calculating the cost of labour, materials, and subcontracts required for a construction project.
We are a leading supplier of infrastructure maintenance, repair, and renewals solutions in the Aviation, Rail, and Civil engineering sector, working for client owners and operators of secure and safety-critical infrastructure including Network Rail, National Grid, Heathrow and Gatwick Airports, MoD, and Associated British Ports.
This role is currently offered with an agile working solution.
Role and Responsibilities:
1. Work on the production of high-quality tender prices within the engineering, construction, and infrastructure markets.
2. Assist Lead Estimator.
3. Identify labour, materials, and subcontractor requirements as needed on a project-by-project basis.
4. Accurately measure from drawings and understand the implications of a specification.
5. Send out for, receive, and adjudicate supplier/subcontractor quotes.
6. Input the above onto tender settlement documents and into estimating software.
7. Work with other members of the bid team in the production of bids.
8. Liaise with the line manager to review details received and agree on the approach for estimating.
9. Take responsibility for price submissions, ensuring compliance with the submissions and Company guidelines.
About You:
Due to the complexity of projects we work on, we are keen to receive applications from candidates familiar with working in a Civil or Electrical Engineering environment and who have a technical understanding of engineering processes and are eager to begin a career as an Estimator.
