This is the job
Reporting to the Head of IT Delivery, this role is pivotal in designing, building, and supporting our core AA-X platform capabilities. You'll work across AWS and Azure, focusing on CI/CD infrastructure and global security and infrastructure orchestration. Collaborate with development teams to help customers create best practice, secure, and cost-effective solutions on AWS.
You'll also manage one direct report, ensuring the smooth operation and delivery of our DevOps roadmap. This involves overseeing daily tasks, providing guidance and mentorship, and ensuring that all projects align with our strategic goals. Your leadership will be crucial in driving innovation and maintaining high standards of performance and reliability.
What will I be doing?
* Collaborate with solution architects and developers to design and develop high-quality technical solutions for production, test, and development environments.
* Implement consistent and repeatable processes and tooling across our application estate.
* Provide and challenge delivery estimates for assigned changes and projects, managing demand to meet evolving needs.
* Oversee assigned projects and continuous improvement activities, ensuring they meet functional and non-functional requirements within budget and timescale.
* Participate in component, architectural, or solution design, performance monitoring, product evaluation, and recommendations.
* Engage in hands-on development and peer reviews, troubleshooting and resolving issues, with occasional out-of-hours support for critical issues.
* Review requirements, functional specifications, architectural designs, and testing strategies, recommending efficient technical solutions for standardisation and reusability.
* Collaborate with architecture, infrastructure, security, and external partners to ensure design alignment and apply industry trends to improve technical deliveries and service.
What do I need?
* Experience in designing and developing high-quality technical solutions for production, test, and development environments.
* Experience in implementing consistent and repeatable processes and tooling across application estates.
* Ability to provide and challenge delivery estimates for assigned changes and projects.
* Proven track record in overseeing projects and continuous improvement activities.
* Familiarity with component, architectural, or solution design, performance monitoring, product evaluation, and recommendations.
* Hands-on development experience and ability to conduct peer reviews.
* Experience in reviewing requirements, functional specifications, architectural designs, and testing strategies.
* Ability to collaborate with architecture, infrastructure, security, and external partners.
