The role
Ever wondered what goes on behind the scenes to supply our Force with the right uniform? This could be the perfect time for you to find out by joining us in our Business Services Department as a Supplies Assistant.
Our small and friendly supplies team stock over 350 items across various sizes and work hard to ensure our officers and staff members have the equipment they need to carry out their roles effectively. As a Supplies Assistant you’ll be an integral part of the team by ensuring uniform and stock items are stored and distributed. You’ll provide excellent customer service to visitors, both internal and external, whilst ensuring accuracy in the transfer of goods.
This is a busy role, where you’ll need to enjoy the daily challenge of juggling various priorities. On a weekly basis the team receive up to 30 deliveries and carry out approximately 100 appointments for all ranks and roles – so you’ll need to be ready for a challenge!
What you’ll do
1. Process uniform: Ensure all items are accurately picked, packaged, and issued, while checking returned uniform items for future use.
2. Manage large deliveries: Oversee the receipt of large deliveries, ensuring all paperwork is accurate and complete.
3. Operate a fork-lift truck: Safely unload items using a fork-lift truck, performing daily checks to ensure it is operational and safe.
4. Record transactions: Accurately record all transactions on Force systems and ensure storage space is utilised effectively.
5. Health and safety awareness: Maintain awareness of health and safety regulations, including working at heights and manual handling to ensure your safety whilst carrying out tasks such as heavy lifting.
