Job Summary
An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our tertiary paediatric allergy service at The Royal London Children's Hospital. We are looking for a part time (0.5WTE) paediatric band 6 nurse for a 12 month fixed term contract. Previous allergy experience is not required; applicants will be well supported by a friendly and experienced multi-disciplinary team who will provide the necessary training. This is a great opportunity for anyone interested in allergy or looking for their first nurse specialist role. Aside from food challenges, applicants will be involved in skin prick testing clinic, immunotherapy, and pre-assessment clinics.
Main Duties of the Job
The Band 6 Paediatric Allergy Nurse Specialist is responsible for providing high-quality care and specialist nursing services to children with allergic conditions. The role involves clinical assessment, management, education, and support for paediatric patients and their families. The nurse specialist will work closely with the multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive allergy services and ensure the best possible outcomes for patients.
The post holder will ensure that the aims and objectives of the paediatric allergy service are delivered and implemented to continually improve the standard of care that children receive, including any national guidance. The post holder will provide advice and support and training to staff caring for this specialist group within Barts Health and act as a resource for members of the MDT. The role also includes providing advice and support to children and their families.
The post holder will improve and facilitate robust communication pathways between hospital staff and professionals in the community or other trusts. The post holder will maintain a high level of awareness of relevant research, issues, trends, and national recommendations within paediatric allergy to ensure that clinical practice and service delivery is in line with these.
