The duties of the post include the physical and psychiatric assessment and treatment of patients suffering from severe and enduring mental disorders who are admitted to Hazel Ward. The post-holder is required to review new patients within 72 hours of admission. Regular clinical supervision will be provided weekly by the Consultant. The post-holder will work with a medical team consisting of a Consultant Psychiatrist, ward junior doctor and foundation trainee. The post-holder will contribute to the supervision and teaching of the trainees and medical students on rotation, and is expected to contribute and support in other clinical duties (senior reviews of newly admitted patients, report writing, prescribing, etc) and writing discharge summaries. The post-holder may be required to work in other localities in line with the needs of the service.
