East Kent Hospitals University NHS Foundation Trust
Nursing Associate is a new role being introduced into the health and care workforce in England from 2019. It is a generic role within the discipline of nursing. Nursing Associates are intended to bridge a gap between health and care assistants and registered nurses, being accountable for their practice.
Nursing Associates are expected to act in the best interests of people, putting them first and providing nursing care that is person-centred, safe, and compassionate, adhering to Trust values and policies. They are to apply their six NMC proficiencies in all day-to-day activities.
Nursing Associates are integral members of the stroke multidisciplinary team and are expected to provide the highest standard of holistic nursing care to stroke patients, supporting the team in attaining key performance indicators of stroke care quality standards.
Main Duties of the Job
In the East Kent Stroke service, we are currently undertaking significant improvement works, supported by a Kent and Medway Stroke Service reconfiguration, with agreed commissioning in place to build new HASU/ASU sites by 2026 and a Mechanical Thrombectomy centre by 2024.
We are delighted to offer exciting Nursing Associate roles within our nursing team. You will be based at Harbledown Ward HASU, a 24-bedded inpatient stroke unit with a strong ethos of rehabilitation. If you are already a qualified NA, this role will provide you with specialist experience and skills in stroke specialty. However, if you are ready to take on the challenge of training to qualify as NA, we are happy to support you.
About Us
We are one of the largest hospital trusts in England, with five hospitals and community clinics serving a local population of around 800,000 people. Our vision is 'great healthcare from great people'. Everything we do is guided by our values: 'People feel cared for, safe, respected, and confident that we are making a difference'. We have a new way of working at East Kent Hospitals, called 'We care', which empowers frontline staff to lead improvements day-to-day. We're looking for compassionate people to be part of our improvement journey for the patients, families, and carers we care for every day.
Applications for this role should be written by the applicant. If artificial intelligence (AI) programmes are used, the application may be rejected due to this document being an important part of the assessment process. This does not prevent applicants from seeking appropriate support with applications should they need it for any declared disability.
Please note that if you require a Certificate of Sponsorship to work in the UK, you must declare this on your application form, even if you currently have a certificate of sponsorship or a work permit for another role and are already working in the country. We are only able to sponsor candidates on a Skilled Worker Visa applying for roles Band 5 and above.
