We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Commercial Insurance Claims Handler to join our Claims Specialty Team based in Chelmsford. This role is very customer-focused, requiring you to provide an excellent claims service to our clients. Your proven claims handling experience within all classes of commercial claims will enable you to ensure professional and efficient management of all claims from cradle to grave, dealing with these classes of business and presenting claims MI.
This role would suit a person who is keen to progress within insurance (CII qualified or working towards it), is a natural multi-tasker, and well-versed in motor, property, and liability insurance claims handling. You will prioritize the customer at the core of your work, utilizing Know Your Customer (KYC) and Treating Customers Fairly (TCF) methodologies, handling claims in line with compliance, FCA regulations, and business policies & procedures.
As the business grows, there will be plenty of opportunities to get involved in other exciting projects.
Responsibilities:
1. Managing claims across different products such as Property, Liability, Marine, and Business Interruption, ensuring service standards are met and exceeded.
2. Maintaining an efficient diary system for all claims, ensuring claims are chased as required.
3. Developing and maintaining a full understanding of Acturis.
4. Providing claims information and reports to the broking department and clients as required.
5. Handling complex claims according to group procedures.
6. Acknowledging all new claims to clients and insurers, keeping clients informed, and ensuring the best outcome for each claim.
7. Producing claims MI/claims reports as needed.
8. Meeting with clients and presenting claims information when required.
9. Undertaking any other duties as requested by management on an ad-hoc basis.
10. Managing personal CPD to keep skills and knowledge current.
Experience:
1. Robust experience in Property, Liability, Marine, and Business Interruption insurance claims handling, with strong commercial awareness and understanding of claims procedures.
2. Passion for delivering exceptional customer service, applying TCF and KYC methodologies.
3. Knowledge of Acturis (desirable but not essential), and proficiency in MS Excel, Word, and Outlook.
4. CII certification or working towards it.
5. Highly organized with excellent time management skills.
6. A positive ‘can-do’ attitude, problem-solving skills, multitasking ability, and high attention to detail.
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
