The school supports a large number of students with a range of Special Needs and Disabilities. They have a comprehensive pastoral framework based on a caring ideology that fosters healthy relationships by promoting high standards and encouraged challenge. With an emphasis on communication and cognition, the school's Semi-Formal curriculum is broken down into six sections. In Key Stages 3 and 4, their goal is to promote independence and communication through relevant, real-world experiences, with a focus on the transference of skills. Classroom Teaching Assistant requirements: Experience working with children or young people, preferably in a SEN setting. Knowledge of SEN, including Autism Spectrum Conditions, Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs, and other learning difficulties. A relevant qualification such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning is desirable. Be able to engage with young people and build effective relationships. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be willing to apply for a new one with GSL Education. Classroom Teaching Assistant duties: Assist the class teacher in delivering tailored lessons to meet the needs of individual students. Provide 1:1 and small group support, helping students overcome barriers to learning. Support students with a range of special educational needs. Use strategies, in liaison with the relevant staff members, to support pupils to achieve learning goals. Help manage behavior positively and consistently, using de-escalation strategies where required. Assist with the preparation and organization of teaching materials and resources. Promote independence and confidence in students.
