We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Community Outreach & Engagement Lead to join our team. In this key role, you will work with statutory, secondary, third-sector organisations and the local community to raise awareness of young onset dementia (YOD) and engage individuals living with YOD into Younger People with Dementia (YPWD)’s core services.
The role involves outreach, community partnerships, and group facilitation to help address health disparities, encourage timely diagnosis, raise awareness and break down health seeking barriers amongst underserved communities. This post will require a two-stage interview process with the first interview date being Wednesday 14th of May. The second stage interview date will be confirmed following a successful first stage interview.
Location: Within Berkshire, Surrey Heath, North East Hampshire and Farnham
Key Responsibilities:
* Raise awareness and promote understanding of YOD within diverse, underrepresented communities.
* Develop and deliver culturally sensitive resources, workshops, and events to reduce stigma and encourage early diagnosis.
* Lead community initiatives, including dementia cafés and musical groups for people with dementia in Berkshire and Surrey Heath.
* Build partnerships with local leaders and community organisations to create inclusive, accessible services.
* Recruit and train volunteers to support community events and initiatives.
* Develop strategies to overcome barriers to healthcare access and ensure services meet the needs of all communities.
Essential Qualifications & Skills:
* Experience in community outreach, public health, or dementia care, particularly with underrepresented groups.
* Strong organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
* Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
* Understanding of cultural diversity and health-seeking behaviours.
* Willingness to work towards an NVQ L2 in Health and Social Care.
* Experience with dementia care or group facilitation.
* Proficiency in additional languages is a plus.
